Quinton van der Burgh is a South African entrepreneur, philanthropist, and media personality known for building powerful businesses and global impact across mining, telecommunications, technology, and media.

As the founder of Quinton van der Burgh Investments, he oversees a diversified portfolio spanning mining and emerging tech. He also spearheaded a global metals group - now hosted under AUO Holdings in the UAE - driving over $1 billion in investments across 16 strategic metals opportunities. His focus on green and critical metals is essential to the global energy transition, including lithium, copper, nickel, magnetite, gold, and uranium.

Quinton made an early mark in the telecommunications industry in the UK, where he owned a technical and engineering company that conducted in-depth technical analysis of T-Mobile devices before distributing them across 14 countries. Simultaneously, His passion for innovation and media led him to produce the hit reality series Hangman with Cell C, aimed at uncovering South Africa’s next great innovator.

As Chairman of an African based innovation company, Quinton actively funded early-stage innovation, having invested in over 20 start-ups and awarded over R100 million to small tech businesses through being selected to be one of the prestigious judges -demonstrating his commitment to developing Africa’s innovation ecosystem.

His work in the media and publishing sectors culminated in the creation of 100 Making a Difference, a philanthropic coffee table book that celebrates global changemakers and supports 153 charities worldwide belonging to some of the world’s biggest celebrities.

In mining, Quinton quickly became one of the sector’s most influential investors, developing over 42 mining projects and becoming one of South Africa’s largest privately owned, selling and brokering houses of commodities. During this time he created and actively funded a strategic metals portfolio across 16 mines in Africa, establishing a global fund that he continues to support as a passive investor. Over the last five years, while building and financing the development of these mining projects, Quinton has also been deeply involved in advancing medical technology - laying the groundwork for what would become a transformative shift in his focus.

Two years ago, he made the bold decision to step away from coal and dedicate his energy fully to the medical and health technology space, once the concept he had been developing was ready to scale.

In the tech-health space, Quinton partnered with leading doctors and medical specialists to invest in transformative technologies, such as AverCare, a global health application. Notably, he supported thedevelopment of the AverCare Smart Device, used by over 15,000 patients, and is backing the upcoming AverCare AI health app, which merges artificial intelligence with practical healthcare accessibility. Thanks to rapid advancements in AI, Quinton’s long-standing passion to help individuals around the world is now being realised on a global scale - enabling him to extend critical medical support and access to everyone on the planet through the AverCare platform.

Quinton is also a passionate humanitarian. Through the Quinton van der Burgh Foundation and Generosity Water Africa, he has delivered clean drinking water to over 200,000 people across the country.
